Recycle your plastic bottles at one of our reverse vending machines this summer and you’ll receive 50% off entry at one of Merlin Entertainment’s leading attractions. Here’s how...

Did you know that every bit of packaging we produce is 100% recyclable? It’s a great enabler, but we’re always looking for new ways to encourage people to proactively recycle more, which is why we’ve partnered with Merlin Entertainment for another summer, providing you with the chance to nab 50% off entry at a host of top attractions and parks. Here’s how…

Recycling rewards

Last year, in partnership with Merlin Entertainment, we launched our very own ‘reverse vending machines’, which offered money-off vouchers for a swathe of awesome Merlin Attractions in exchange for recycling a plastic bottle of your choice.

In 2019, our reverse vending machines are back once again at Merlin attractions around the UK, all ready and waiting to accept your used plastic bottles.

So where are these magic machines? And where will your 50% off voucher work?

Well, you’ll be able to find 23 reverse vending machines at the below attractions (with some notable new additions for 2019) from 8th July. That’s until 17th October 2019 at Alton Towers Resort, Thorpe Park Resort, Chessington World of Adventures Resort and LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort, and until 31st March 2020 at all other participating attractions.

  • Alton Towers Resort
  • Thorpe Park Resort
  • Chessington World of Adventures Resort
  • LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort.
  • SEA LIFE Blackpool
  • SEA LIFE London

“Recycling doesn’t need to be boring,” says Kris Robbens, Marketing Director at Coca-Cola Great Britain and Ireland. We want to reward and recognise people for doing the right thing and make it easier to recycle on the go. This is just one of the steps we’re taking to ensure our packaging is as sustainable as possible and making it as easy as possible for people.”

Our other steps? Well, as well as adding the ‘recycle me’ message to all our Coca-Cola bottle tops, we’ll be appearing at festivals around the UK this summer, helping and encouraging people to recycle.

On top of that, we’ve just announced that we’re moving all Glaceau smartwater bottles to 100% rPET (pre-recycled plastic) in 2019 – saving 3,100 tonnes of virgin plastic per year. You can find out more about that here.
