Here at Coca-Cola, we love football and we’re proud to be a partner of both the men’s and women’s FIFA World Cup. With this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup about to kick-off, our excitement is building and we can’t wait for the tournament to get underway.

There a growing buzz about women’s football at the moment as the sport continues to grow in popularity.  This year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup is set to be the biggest yet and you can read more about how we’re supporting the event here.

As a sponsor, we get the chance to buy tickets and the vast majority of these we give away to fans through competitions and promotions.  However, as well as rewarding existing fans of the women’s game during the tournament, we also want to use our partnership with the FIFA Women’s World Cup to help connect more people to the sport and make them fans.  To do this, we need to reach those who are passionate about football but haven’t given the women’s game a fair chance.

That’s why we got in touch with an avid football fan who had tweeted a fly-away comment that he didn’t think the women’s game was that good.  We saw the tweet and a chance to give him the opportunity to think again. We wanted to know if he’d be open to reconsidering his view after experiencing a live FIFA Women’s World Cup game. So along with England’s most capped footballer, Fara Williams MBE, we offered him a ticket to join Fara at the game this weekend.

He was up for the challenge and accepted our offer.  So this Sunday he’ll get to sit alongside Fara Williams and see first-hand why women’s football is well worth watching.  Stay tuned to this space to see what happens next…
