Diet Coke’s ‘Get The Gang Back Together’ campaign celebrates and encourages the amazing moments friends share when they’re together. The lucky winner of the Ultimate Penthouse Stay-cation competition was Diet Coke fan, Emily Evans. We caught up with her to see how she and her best friends enjoyed their weekend in a 5-star London penthouse.

Research commissioned by Diet Coke has found that on average, Brits have 100-200 social media followers, but only consider 3-5 as ‘close’ friends offline. Four out of five Brits also wished they could spend more time with their BFFs.

“Diet Coke is all about celebrating those amazing moments we have with our friends.” – Natalie Whitehead- Farr, Senior Brand Manager for Coca-Cola Great Britain

Commissioned to celebrate Diet Coke’s ‘Get The Gang Back Together’ campaign, the research found that while we love using social media to keep up with what everyone’s doing, what we all really want is quality face-to-face time with our friends.

Natalie Whitehead- Farr, Senior Brand Manager for Coca-Cola Great Britain said, “Diet Coke is all about celebrating those amazing moments we have with our friends. It is encouraging to see that we all really do value the opportunity to share good times in person, which is what we are calling for people to do more.”

The Ultimate Penthouse Stay-cation with Diet Coke

Diet Coke launched their Ultimate Penthouse Stay-cation competition to help make some good times happen. Supported by sparkling brand ambassador Holly Willoughby, the competition gave Diet Coke fans the chance to get their BFFs together for an unforgettable weekend in an amazing London penthouse.

To enter the competition, fans had to share a throwback photo of their friendship group with #ItStartedWithADietCoke. Winner Emily Evans’ entry was a throwback photo of her wedding day, when the photographer was trying to get a picture of the group of friends lifting Emma (and her heavy wedding dress).

“Our expressions are just hilarious because I wasn’t expecting them to do it. He’s captured all of us just messing around and laughing which is basically what we do when we’re together,” says Emily.

“I entered the competition because I thought it was a fantastic idea, but I didn’t ever think I was going to win. We haven’t done anything really special since my friend’s wedding so I thought it would be nice for all my friends to be in one place together and make some memories.”

“We chilled and relaxed and just enjoyed it – you’re never going to get a chance to stay in a 5-star penthouse again. It’s a once-in-a lifetime experience.” – Emily Evans, winner of Diet Coke’s Ultimate Penthouse Stay-cation competition

Emily and her BFFs have known each other for around 12 years and they all met through work. Before life got in the way, they used to get together all the time, but now they only really meet up for special occasions. Emily explains:

“Everyone’s so busy with full time jobs and family so it’s really difficult trying to see each other. Before children and marriage we used to do things every weekend but now it’s very rare that we get together. We used to go out for dinner and then out for drinks in bars and clubs. Now it’s more civilised – we go to each other’s houses and have food and drinks there while the children are running around.”

The girls made the most of their amazing staycation – visiting Buckingham Palace, getting their hair and makeup done, enjoying dinner from Michelin-starred London chefs and going to a bar for drinks. They rounded off the night by watching a film back at the penthouse with plenty of snacks and Diet Coke. Emily said, “It was really chilled which is what we want at our age now!”
