Help to deliver a zero waste Games
Seeing packaging as a valuable resource for the future

We are looking to a future in which our packaging is no longer seen as waste, but as a valuable resource for the future. We are proactively supporting the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) to ensure London 2012 is a zero waste Games, with 70 per cent of all waste being reused, recycled or composted.
- Suppliers: We have asked all our suppliers to create processes for minimising waste and maximising recycled content. We have devised a Sustainability Policy to help guide our suppliers, and clarify our expectations of them.
- Products: All Coca‑Cola products served at the Olympic and Paralympic Games will be in 100 per cent recyclable PET packaging which will contain 25% recycled plastic.
- Merchandise: Wherever possible, we will use recycled materials for all our staff uniforms, licensed merchandise and merchandising equipment. All merchandising items used in the venues are being designed to enable them to have a second life back in our business.
- Consumers: We will help visitors to the Games recycle their empty packaging, by promoting and encouraging recycling. In addition, we are supporting LOCOG to create an easy-to-use bin system to ensure clean recycling streams.
- Olympic Village: We are supporting the creation of a sustainability experience in the Olympic Village to encourage athletes to change their behaviour, particularly around recycling.
