Recycling at the Relay
How we're helping to reduce waste and encourage recycling during the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay

The Olympic Torch Relay is igniting excitement across the country in the run up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and as a proud Presenting Partner of the Relay we’re doing our bit to help build the party atmosphere.
The Coca-Cola Beat Fleet has hit the road and will be with the Olympic Flame as it tours the country, encouraging local people to line the Relay route and cheer on the Torchbearers – including our own Future Flames. We’re also bringing some of your favourite artists to the Olympic Torch Relay City Celebrations.
At the same time, Coca-Cola is working to help minimise waste and encourage recycling during the Olympic Torch Relay, in line with our commitment to join LOCOG, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, in making London 2012 the greenest Games of modern times.
Recycle Beat, an innovative hybrid vehicle that forms part of the Coca-Cola Beat Fleet, has been specially designed to promote recycling across the country. People attending the Olympic Torch Relay City Celebrations can deposit their empty Coca-Cola bottles into a chute of their choice on the vehicle, which activates a musical remix of Mark Ronson’s Coca-Cola song for London 2012, ‘Anywhere in the World’.
People who use Recycle Beat will also get the chance to have photos taken with the vehicle, which can be retrieved later on Coke Zone and shared with friends on Facebook.
Did you know? The material collected by Recycle Beat will be transported to Continuum Recycling - a brand new plastics processing facility developed in partnership between Coca-Cola Enterprises and ECO Plastics. This system will allow bottles collected by the Recycle Beat vehicle to be turned into new bottles - and our aim is to return the recycled bottles to shop shelves as new bottles in as little as six weeks!
