StreetGames shines a light on Connor’s commitment to local sport

Connor Windsor, a 13-year-old BMX rider from Splott, Cardiff, has been chosen to star on a giant billboard poster as part of a nationwide campaign celebrating the partnership between Coca‑Cola and StreetGames, the charity that brings sport straight to the doorsteps of young people in some of the UK’s most disadvantaged communities.

Connor’s poster, which will be on display at Bute Street from today, highlights his outstanding commitment to his local StreetGames project. After being introduced to StreetGames, Connor has displayed a real change in character and now plays an integral part of his neighbourhood team.

Connor’s billboard is the final posted in a series of six that have been displayed throughout the country this summer and autumn, to coincide with the StreetGames festivals that have been running in major cities.

With the confidence I have gained I am working hard to achieve my goal of becoming a full time StreetGames coach so I can be a role model for younger participants and give something back to a project and community that has given me so much.” – Connor Windsor

The billboard campaign, featuring photographs shot by leading portrait photographer Zak Waters, has shone a spotlight on the achievements of the young people who take part in StreetGames projects around the UK, with the aim of inspiring more teens to get involved.

Liz Lowe, Citizenship Manager at Coca‑Cola Great Britain, says: “StreetGames does some exceptional work in bringing sport and dance more readily into teenagers’ lives by placing it at the heart of their communities. By making it open to all, they’re giving young people the chance to enjoy a whole raft of benefits that an active lifestyle brings, like friendship, better health and increased confidence.”
