Come on in, the water's sch...plendid!
A swim giveaway puts Schweppes Abbey Well water and your local pool on the map

Coca‑Cola aims to help people lead active, healthy lifestyles. Something you'll notice when you buy a bottle of Schweppes Abbey Well is that you get more than a drink of water - you get to splash around in it, too.
The Schweppes Schwim Free campaign is one of the Coca‑Cola initiatives aimed at encouraging families to get moving, offering free swims at participating pools all over the UK, on weekdays, until 31st January, 2012. Just take a promotional cap, available on bottles of Schweppes Abbey Well, and hand it over at your nearest participating swimming pool for your free swim.
During Coca‑Cola's Schwim Free campaign in 2009, Schweppes Abbey Well inspired 45,000 free visits to swimming pools. In 2010 we expanded the campaign, inspiring over 50,000 people to get active, with over 400 swimming pools participating.
This promotion is now closed. Over the course of the three-year campaign, more than 175,000 Schweppes Abbey Well bottle tops were exchanged for free swims.
Take to the water
It's fun, relaxing and just happens to be one of the best kinds of exercise out there. Here are some reasons to love swimming:
- Swimming is gentle on your muscles and bones as the water supports your weight - especially good news for people with sports injuries or arthritis
- Swimming is suitable for all ages, from babies to pensioners, and all body shapes
- Swimming has been an Olympic event since 1896, and at the 2008 event in Beijing, six of Team GB's 19 medals were won by swimmers
- Swimmers have to move against the resistance of water, which is 10 times stronger than the resistance of air - this improves muscle tone as well as giving you a cardio workout
- Water lowers your body temperature so you don't get hot and sticky, even though you're exercising and raising your heart rate
Swimming is just one of the ways in which Coca‑Cola is promoting active, healthy living. From our Cycle to Work scheme and an on-site gym for our employees, to our long-standing relationships with both the Olympic Games and the Special Olympics programmes, we're committed to getting people moving.
