Our involvement in the Department of Health’s Public Health Responsibility Deal
As part of Coca‑Cola Great Britain’s ongoing commitment to active, healthy lifestyles, we’ve become a partner in the Department of Health’s new Public Health Responsibility Deal.
In joining the Responsibility Deal, our company and over 170 other businesses have made a series of commitments to encourage healthier lifestyle choices among the British public. The businesses involved are working in partnership with health professionals, consumer groups and the government to drive forward the pledges they have made.
All businesses signing up to the Responsibility Deal have made core commitments to:
- Recognise that they have a vital role to play in improving people’s health
- Encourage and enable people to adopt a healthier diet
- Foster a culture of responsible drinking, which will help people to drink within guidelines
- Encourage and assist people to become more physically active
- Actively support their workforce to lead healthier lives.
The Responsibility Deal consists of five ‘networks’ focused on: Food, Health at Work, Physical Activity, Behaviour Change and Alcohol. At Coca‑Cola, we’ve chosen to make specific business pledges around Health at Work, Physical Activity and more recently Food:
Encouraging and assisting you, our consumers, and staff to lead more active lifestyles
Central to our work around our active lifestyles pledge is our partnership with StreetGames, a national charity that helps bring sport to young people from disadvantaged communities.
Actively supporting our workforce to lead healthier lives
All staff at our headquarters in London currently benefit from a free on site gym and regular gym classes, a subsidised staff restaurant with healthy options, free fresh fruit and a free supply of hot and cold drinks to promote adequate hydration (including water, juice and zero sugar products). We also provide GDAs and messaging on portion size in our staff restaurant in a bid to further help employees make informed choices about what they eat and drink at work.
