What is Coca‑Cola doing to get young people involved in the London 2012 Olympic Games?
Young people are at the heart of Coca-Cola’s sponsorship of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
We are using our role as Presenting Partner of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay to celebrate the nation’s Future Flames – inspirational young people who use their passion in areas like sport and active lifestyles, music and dance, and community and environment to spread happiness in their local communities - by giving them a once in a lifetime opportunity to carry the Olympic Flame.
We are also working with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) and host Local Authorities to stage 66 Olympic Torch Relay Evening Celebrations that will showcase up and coming music talent along with some of the country’s best loved stars, which will give thousands more young people the chance to be part of the magic of London 2012.
Coca-Cola’s global Move to the Beat™ campaign also aims to connect more young people with London 2012 by harnessing their passion for music. We are encouraging young people to Move to the Beat™ of London 2012 throughout the summer with GRAMMY award winning producer Mark Ronson and chart-topping vocalist Katy B – the stars of Coca-Cola’s song for London 2012, ‘Anywhere in the World’.
In addition, through our partnership with national charity StreetGames – which will bring sport to 110,000 young people across the UK - we are giving 45 18-21 year-olds from the most deprived areas of the country paid jobs as part of our elite venue operations team at the Olympic Park.
