How long has Coca-Cola been associated with the Olympic Movement?
Coca-Cola has been a supporter of the Olympic Movement since 1928, making us the longest-running, continuous sponsor of both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. From 1992 until the present day, we have also supported the Olympic Torch Relay, helping to spread the excitement of the Olympic Games. We believe the Olympic Movement is a force for good, bringing people and countries together, and we are proud to use our name to raise the profile of the Olympic Games.

Why does Coca-Cola sponsor the Olympic Games?
Coca-Cola has supported the Olympic Games since 1928, making us the longest continuous supporter of the Olympic Movement. We are a business, and so part of the reason for our sponsorship is to build awareness for our brands and the wide choice of quality and refreshing drinks we offer consumers. We sell a range of drinks at all Olympic venues during the events. Coca-Cola also shares the Olympic Movement's vision of connecting people with sport, and we are committed to promoting active, healthy lifestyles and increasing participation in sport at every level. In addition without the support of Coca-Cola and the other Worldwide Sponsors, as many as 170 of the 200 National Olympic Committees would be unable to send athletes to compete.

How is Coca-Cola helping to make London 2012 the most sustainable games to date?
Coca-Cola is already working closely with London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) to understand how we can promote recycling within the venues and are looking at every aspect of our Olympic Games plans - from the uniforms our staff will wear to the type of fridges we use to chill our drinks - to ensure we reduce our environmental impact wherever possible. Coca-Cola has already been hailed as green sponsors by the organising committees of the Summer and Winter Games of Sydney, Salt Lake City, Athens and Turin. Greenpeace awarded us the 'first green medal' of the Beijing Games for our environmentally-friendly cooling systems and our local water community projects. In addition, most of the drinks that we will supply during the London 2012 Games will be manufactured at our plant in Edmonton, just a few miles from the Olympic Park.

What steps is Coca-Cola taking towards improving the carbon footprint of its Olympic sponsorship?
Coca-Cola is committed to reducing our environmental impact and using our Olympic partnership to inspire our consumers and partners to do the same. We were the first drinks brand to publish the carbon footprint of our iconic products, allowing consumers to see the carbon footprint of a can or bottle of Coke, Diet Coke and Coke Zero. We have already launched 50 Recycle Zones across the country, to encourage people to recycle on-the-go and we aim to have 80 in place by the time the Olympic Games arrive in London. Most recently, we provided Westminster City Council with 260 recycling bins to place in central London. On Oxford Street alone, these bins are already collecting a tonne of recyclable waste every day.
Greenpeace awarded us the 'first green medal' of the Beijing Games and we will be using this experience to ensure London 2012 is the most sustainable games ever. Managing our carbon footprint is an important aspect of this, and we will seek to reduce carbon emissions wherever possible through technologies such as HFC-free refrigerators, energy management systems and low emissions transportation.

How is Coca-Cola encouraging active healthy, lifestyles through its sponsorship of the Olympic Games?
Coca-Cola has a long history of supporting active lifestyles in the UK. Powerade's 'Take to the Streets' initiative provides support to a range of events including the Great North Run. In keeping with the London 2012 legacy vision to help get Britain active, Schweppes Abbey Well - Coca-Cola's bottled mineral water and the official water of the Olympic Games - has a year-round on-pack promotion offering free swimming.
We offer consumers a wide choice of drinks in different pack sizes, and also provide front of pack labelling so they can make an informed decision on what drinks are best for them and their families. We know from previous summer Olympic Games that about two thirds of drinks consumed by visitors will be water or juice. We will therefore be providing a wide variety of drinks including still, sparkling, low and no sugar drinks, 100% juice, water, sports and energy drinks to the millions of spectators visiting the Olympic Park.
