What is my Body Mass Index (BMI)?

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure used by doctors, nurses and other health workers to get a rough idea of how healthy a person’s weight is. If you are overweight or underweight, your risk of health problems such as type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and heart disease increases – so it's important to maintain a healthy weight through eating a sensible, balanced diet and taking part in regular physical activity.

Coca‑Cola is working to encourage active, healthy lifestyles and provides detailed nutritional information on product packaging so you can make informed choices in order to maintain a healthy BMI.

To work out your BMI and find out whether it is within healthy range, use the BMI calculator on our website.

BMI isn’t a perfect measure as it does not account for how much body fat or muscle mass a person has – meaning a very fit athlete could have a high BMI even though he or she is not unhealthy. Treat BMI as an indicator of whether your weight is healthy, rather than as gospel truth. If your BMI seems to be too low or too high, it’s a good idea to seek advice from your GP.
