Do sparkling drinks like Coca‑Cola and Diet Coke cause cellulite?

Cellulite is a common name used to describe the dimpling of skin that occurs when fat cells beneath the skin’s surface bulge out from under the connective tissue that lies immediately below it.

Cellulite is most often found in women, and although excess weight can make cellulite worse, it can occur in women who are underweight or a healthy weight, too.

The causes of cellulite are not well understood, but factors thought to play a role include genetics, hormones, diet and other lifestyle factors such as smoking or not doing enough physical activity.

No single food or drink alone, including Coca‑Cola and Diet Coke, is responsible for the formation of cellulite.
