Journey to Athens: Episode 1
Meet Special Olympics GB athlete Charlotte as she prepares for the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens

Coca-Cola has been a global sponsor of Special Olympics since the Movement was established over 40 years ago in the USA. Coca-Cola GB works closely with Special Olympics GB, the charity that runs a year-round programme of sports training and competition for people with learning disabilities across the country, providing regular funding to help them to enjoy making friends and being part of their communities through sport.
Partners such as Coca-Cola GB help Special Olympics GB reach thousands of families to make a real difference. But for every aspiring Special Olympics athlete, there are many more waiting for their chance to shine.
Here we highlight what Special Olympics means for some of those involved around the country, and how important donations are, through a series of videos following the journey of one athlete – Charlotte Cox, 20, from Cambridge - to the biggest sporting event in the world this year: The 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens.
Follow Charlotte's story:
In the next episode, we see Charlotte meet Prime Minister David Cameron with her fellow GB teammates before they depart for the 2011 Special Olympics World Games.
