Enter the Schweppes social monarch competition to win a Royal party package

Schweppes hamper

Britain’s streets are set to host thousands of street parties this summer, as the nation unites to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

According to research from Schweppes, one in ten people are planning to throw a party and around 47% of us will stop working for the day to celebrate the event, which commemorates the monarch’s 60 years on the throne.

Brilliantly British

Schweppes' research shows that traditional British party fare will make a comeback at many of this year's Diamond Jubilee parties...

  • 46% of people said they'd be putting up bunting, to make their celebration look "quintessentially British"
  • 37% said they would be serving trifle at their Diamond Jubilee celebrations
  • 33% said afternoon tea and cake were crucial ingredients for a proper British party
  • 32% of people are planning to serve gin and tonic and Pimm's.

Schweppes has been supplying drinks to the Royal Household since 1836, when it first received its Royal Warrant from King William IV.

Now, the brand is looking to reward hard-working party hosts from across the country by finding the nation’s ‘social monarchs’ – the social kings and queens of the UK who love to entertain, and are planning to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in style.

Did you know? The average party host will spend up to six weeks preparing and planning the perfect event, with providing appropriate food, keeping guests' drinks topped up and planning enjoyable activities and games top priorities for most of us.

Schweppes’ three winning social monarchs will each win a photo shoot with royal photographer Hugo Burnand, receive a visit from party planner Polly Betton to help organise their Diamond Jubilee celebration, and also have the services of their very own team of butlers to assist them on the day! Visit www.schweppesjubilee.co.uk to nominate yourself or a friend as a social monarch.

Competition entrants will need to demonstrate the ways in which they plan to use their party know-how to organise an unforgettable Diamond Jubilee bash. Finalists will be chosen for their flair, creativity and community or family spirit.

Carolin Knottenbeld, Schweppes Brand Activation Manager from Coca‑Cola Great Britain, says: “Schweppes has been the perfect party accompaniment for over 200 years, so we’re excited to be working with Polly and Hugo to search for the kings and queens of at-home entertaining. With so many people getting behind this summer’s festivities, we can’t wait to help Brits put on a proper party to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.”
